SkyTraq Introduces Two-In-One GPS/GNSS Dead Reckoning Receiver

Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 1, 2018 — SkyTraq Technology Inc., a leading fabless GNSS positioning technology company, introduces S1216DR8P GPS/GNSS dead-reckoning receiver, integrating 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer, and barometric pressure sensor with GNSS receiver. In applications where vehicle wheel-tick signal is available, automotive dead-reckoning (ADR) GNSS/IMU/Odometer sensor-fusion solution is formed. In applications where wheel-tick signal is unavailable, odometer-less dead-reckoning (ODR) GNSS/IMU sensor-fusion solution is formed. A single S1216DR8P module provides both ADR and ODR functionality typically offered as two different products by other vendors. S1216DR8P provides 100% coverage; ideal for vehicle navigation, tracking, and ADAS applications requiring highest performance, reliability, and uninterrupted positioning.

S1216DR8P can be flexibly mounted in any orientation. Its auto-calibration feature greatly simplifies installation procedure; short calibration time upon first use much improves user experience. The on-board barometric pressure sensor provides unparalleled altitude accuracy, useful for differentiating different levels of multi-story parking garage and stacked highway.

The S1216DR8P measures 12mm x 16mm in size. It offers continuous navigation even in GNSS signal denied environments such as tunnels or underground parking lot. Able to output gyroscope and accelerometer sensor data, it’s also useful for vehicle insurance accident reconstruction.

S1216DR8P engineering sample, evaluation kit, and datasheet are available now. Volume delivery to customers begins September 2018. S1216DR8P is manufactured in ISO/TS 16949 automotive-certified factory.
