PRESSHsinchu, Taiwan, Oct 30, 2006 — SkyTraq Technology, Inc introduced today a high performance Venus 5 AGPS baseband for applications such as PND, PMP, UMPC, Smart-Phone, Personal Locator Device, and car navigation. It offers industry leading TTFF performance, high sensitivity, low power, and low cost. Venus 5 delivers fast and accurate position data even in challenging environments such as indoors and urban canyon. Using innovative signal processing architecture, the Venus 5 is capable of testing 16,000,000 phase-frequency hypotheses per second, and simultaneously acquire and track up to 44 satellites. With massive number of correlators, all available signals is acquired within 2 seconds cold starting using 3ppm TCXO with signal level at –130dBm, surpassing all the competition in signal acquisition and TTFF performance. Having exceptional tracking sensitivity of –158dBm, the Venus 5 delivers continuous reliable GPS navigation in signal-attenuated environments not possible before. The Venus 5 baseband contains 32bit RISC core, cache memory, data SRAM, program ROM, and AGPS signal processing engine. The chip requires 3.3V I/O voltage and 1.8V core voltage; the average tracking current is 25mA. The device is housed in QFN88 package. Engineering sample, datasheet, and reference design will be available in December. Production quantity will be available in January 2007.
